Outbuilding Power Installation

Outbuilding Power Installation

This project involved installing electrical service to a detached outbuilding for a homeowner who needed reliable power in their garage and workspace area. The project required safely routing new underground electrical service from the home’s main electrical panel to a newly installed subpanel inside the detached building.

Proper planning and site preparation were critical for this installation. Before excavation began, utility lines were marked and sprinkler system layouts were reviewed to help avoid underground conflicts and ensure the project could be completed safely and efficiently.

Project Story

Underground Electrical Installation & Site Preparation

To preserve the homeowner’s yard as much as possible, our team carefully marked the trench route and cut the grass in sections so it could be rolled and temporarily stored like sod during the installation process.

The trench was excavated to the proper depth required by electrical code, allowing us to safely install underground conduit designed to protect the buried electrical wiring for long-term durability and safety.

Project Solution

New Underground Service & Detached Garage Subpanel

Once excavation was completed, underground conduit was installed between the home and detached garage to safely route the new feeder wiring. Inside the garage, we installed a new electrical subpanel to support lighting, outlets, and future electrical needs for the building.

Because detached structures require their own grounding system, our team also installed two grounding rods at the garage and properly bonded the new electrical system according to code requirements.

After installation was complete, the system was inspected to verify all electrical work met applicable safety and code standards before the trench was backfilled and the yard restored.

Project Results

Reliable Power & Clean Property Restoration

After passing inspection, the trench area was carefully re-leveled and the preserved grass sections were placed back into position to help restore the property’s original appearance as closely as possible.

The homeowner now has safe, reliable electrical power available in the detached garage along with expanded functionality for lighting, tools, equipment, and future electrical upgrades.
